Our 5 favourite treatments to help you get perfect eyebrows

Beauty trends move fast. At Radiance, we invest in the latest products, tools and technology to keep you ahead of the curve. Alongside skin and lip treatments, we also help our clients achieve beautiful brows. As much as we love keeping up with trends, it’s also important to take into consideration which brow shape will suit your face. You can read more about different eyebrow shapes in this guide

Over the years the most sought after brow shape has drastically changed. Gone are the days of overly-plucked eyebrows – thankfully! Right now, a lot of our customers are jumping on board with the ‘Insta brow’ trend. This look is much easier to maintain and leaves brows looking natural, fluffy and slightly thicker. We understand it can be hard to know how to style your brows or what treatment to ask for, but we are here to help. No matter what look you want to achieve, we have the perfect treatment for you!

The most popular brow shaping techniques  – from waxing to threading

There are plenty of ways to change or tidy up your brow shape, but our two favourites are waxing and threading. Whether you want a lot of hair removed, or just a few, these techniques are both great options.

Waxing is a great choice if you want quick and instant results. It’s perfect for clients who find threading or tweezing too painful and with regular appointments, the hair will start to grow back thinner. It can be slightly less accurate than threading but great at removing larger patches of hair such as in between the brows. If you’re a regular at the clinic, you’ll know that we never recommend waxing in conjunction with stronger skincare treatments such as chemical peels or retinol. You should also be careful if you have very sensitive skin. If waxing isn’t the right option for you, then think about threading.

Threading is better for anyone who wants to avoid abrasion to the skin but is still looking for that perfect shape. As well as sensitive skin and medi-grade treatments, you should also stick with threading if you experience acne. That’s because waxing can actually encourage pimples to form – which can be really frustrating. Some say that threading provides a much more precise and cleaner finish compared to waxing as it’s possible to remove individual hairs. This also means it’s a great choice for anyone who wants to be very specific about the overall shape. Don’t forget that this treatment can also be quite painful and take a little longer than waxing. So when it comes to making the choice, factor your pain threshold into your decision making process!

Whichever brow shaping treatment you decide to go for, you’ll be pleased to hear that the results last for several weeks before you’ll need to come back. Most of our clients come back every 4-6 weeks for a re-shape.

How can eyebrow tinting benefit you?

Brow tinting is the process of applying semi-permanent dye to enhance, shape and define the brows. It’s a great way to change or deepen the colour of your brows safely. This treatment is suitable for everyone – from the lightest to darkest brows. We love tinting because it adds extra depth and definition, especially for people with more sparse eyebrows. The dye can be used to make the brows appear fuller and create a longer brow line if yours is particularly short.

Your beautician will be able to mix up the dye in front of you and you can work together to choose a shade that you feel is suitable for your natural brows. This can be the same shade or slightly darker if that’s the look you’re after. Your brows will appear thicker and fuller instantly and you may find that the dye slightly darkens over the next day or two. You can expect the results to stick around for 2-4 weeks and then you will need to get it topped up.

A more natural alternative to tinting your brows

Before and After Henna Brow Treatment - Radiance Aesthetic Clinic Exeter

Here at Radiance, we also offer henna brow treatments. This is a type of tint that stains the skin and hairs to provide temporary shape and colour. Henna has been around for thousands of years and people regularly use it for hair dye, body art and temporary tattoos. It often gets associated with the colour red, but henna brows have been specifically formulated to give a more cool tone which is perfect for filling in eyebrows.

The application process is very similar to regular eyebrow tinting and the results can be expected to last longer than regular tint at around 4-6 weeks. It’s a great treatment for those who have over-plucked and are looking for a fuller look. We do find that results are always best when there is more hair to work with, so perhaps bear that in mind. Henna is a very natural ingredient which means it’s suitable for those with sensitive skin. However a patch test will still need to be carried out prior to your appointment.

Powder brows vs Microblading

One of the most popular eyebrow treatments is Microblading which provides semi-permanent colouring to the brows using a small tool made of tiny needles. This leaves pencil-like strokes in your brows which look great but we find that some of our clients are after a more natural look. That’s why we offer powder brows!

Powder brows is also a semi-permanent makeup procedure where PMU pigments are applied into the top layer of the skin with a tattoo machine. This is designed to create a very natural, powdery look. The procedure itself is very similar to Microblading but the technique used is slightly different which gives less harsh and defined results. A popular way of applying powder brows is by using an ombre technique. This is a great way to create the illusion that your brows are lighter at the front and gradually appear darker near the tail.

We are here to help you achieve your dream brows. If you’re looking for a more defined look why not try a combination of threading and henna. However, if you’re looking for a softer finish you could dry a wax and our powder brow treatment.
