PRP for hair loss and after hair transplantation using your own blood

Hair loss can really impact your confidence and happiness. PRP is here to help.

The ‘Vampire facial’ or PRP facial harnesses the body’s own repair and recovery mechanisms to rejuvenate the skin; just like when you have a cut or burn yourself, your body heals itself. This treatment kick-starts the cells to behave like young cells again to rejuvenate the skin. This is an autologous treatment meaning that it only uses products from your own body and is suitable for everyone.

The PRP facial can be used to treat hair loss in both men and women. 40% of women show some hair loss by the age of 50 and only about 45% of women maintain a full head of hair by the age of 80. Both sexes can suffer excess hair loss due to intense stress, diet, medication, scalp conditions, low iron levels, an under active thyroid and other illnesses.

Platelets, along with red and white blood cells, are a component of the blood and play an important role in healing, being the ‘first responders’ when the body is cut or wounded. They contain growth factors and proteins to speed tissue repair. PRP (Platelet rich plasma) is obtained by spinning blood in a centrifuge to separate the components to obtain the highly concentrated portion that is then injected into the scalp.

The transplant area and surrounding ‘potential hair loss areas’ are treated:

  • Treatments start 4-6 weeks post transplant according to your surgeon’s protocol.
  • 1 treatment a month x 4
  • 2 syringes (20 mls of blood are used each time).

We will review your treatments at 6 months and continue with further (single) treatments every 3-6 months. Cost is £350 per session as a course of 4 treatments. To find out more about this treatment, click here.
