About Chemical Peel

Chemical peel treatment helps to stimulate cell renewal and regenerate a healthier appearance. Our chemical peels are formulated to cause little to no peeling and shed just the superficial layers of the skin to improve overall skin function, leaving your skin looking radiant. Some deeper peels with downtime can be used if deemed necessary after your consultation with us.

The Problem

The Problem

As we age, the skin cell turnover slows down and the skin starts to look dull and loose youthful lustre. Damage from our environment and UV light can cause fine lines, age spots and a rough texture. Additionally, blocked pores, sometimes related to hormonal changes, can give rise to blackheads and acne.

How It Works

The Problem

We use the latest Med-Derma and Sesderma peels that ‘achieve the peel’ and give little to no peeling after the treatment. The solution is applied to remove the damaged skin cells via a chemical reaction. The skin is first cleansed, then a preparatory solution is applied before the peel itself. The peel is left on the skin for 2-10 minutes, depending on the type of peel. Some clients may be worried about the outcomes of chemical peels, but our Qualified Aesthetics team is here to provide you with complete peace of mind and find the most suitable treatment for your skin.

A chemical peel procedure can be used to treat the face, neck, hands, chest and back.

After most  treatments on the face you should wait 4-6 weeks before having a chemical peel. Your aesthetician will advise you accordingly.

Chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores by clearing them out

This will depend on what we are treating and which peels we are doing. You often get best results doing a mixture of different treatments rather than all the same. We usually suggest 4 weeks between treatments.

We recommend that you stop using any strong or irritating products such as retinol for 5-7 days before treatment. If you have had any other treatments done in the past month please let us know beforehand.

Depending on the type of peel that we use will depend on whether you peel or not. Although it is called a peel some do not cause peeling and still get great results.

A high factor SPF of 30 or 50 must be used post treatment for at least a month. We recommend SPF to be used all year round including when it is cloudy. There is as much UVA in the summer as the winter, because we don’t burn in the winter we assume we don’t need to protect.  UVA ages the skin and UVB burns the skin.

If you do peel please do not pull, pick or scratch the area, use the recommended basic products avoiding retinol and acids until your skin has fully stopped peeling or 5 days, whichever is longer.

This will be decided by your aesthetician. What you are wanting to treat, your skin type and how much peeling you are willing to have are all factors that your aesthetician will be considering when choosing the best peel or you.

We have lots of different peels that we can choose from depending on your concerns, skin type and downtime.
