The Nanopore Micro-needling device is the next generation of Dermaroller and Dermapen. Developed by dermatological and pharmaceutical specialist Dr Serrano, the revolutionary nano-technology uses ‘encapsulated’ active ingredients, such as Retinol, to penetrate deeper into the skin.
Because of the nano effect, this is the equivalent of using ten times the strength of the active ingredient working where it is most needed beneath the skin, yet without the aggressive side effects on the skin surface.
Pore size increases as we age and is of concern to many people, especially when increased sebum production leads to blackheads. Also, as we age, we reduce the amount of collagen that we produce and the skin becomes saggy. This starts from our early 30s and, for women, becomes considerably worse after the menopause. Added to this, sun exposure, stress, smoking, alcohol and processed foods all increase the breakdown of collagen in the skin.
The melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells in the skin, also get damaged over the years, especially by sun exposure and pigment spots appear on the skin. This loss of uniformity of the skin adds to the aged appearance.
As we get older it is also harder to stimulate the skin to produce collagen. It’s important to have effective treatments that not only stimulate collagen production, but deliver the ‘building blocks’ and other stimulatory products to the level in the skin where they are most needed.
The Nanopore Micro-needling device uses rapid micro-punctures that do not vibrate, meaning that no anaesthetic cream is required and the number of pulses per second is increased to 150. This means that we get 900 micro-punctures per seconds, making the treatment very quick. A facial treatment only takes approximately 8 minutes.
The recovery after a treatment is minimal. The device is used to push the active ingredients into the skin (mesotherapy) to give fast, visible results. A chemical peel that compliments the mesotherapy solution can also be used. A course of 3, one month apart is recommended.
A consultation is required for this treatment. You’ll need to fill out a medical form to rule out any conditions that might contraindicate a treatment. The vast majority of healthy people, who are not pregnant or breastfeeding are suitable.
Redness that usually only lasts a few hours and if certain products are used afterwards there may be some peeling.
You can start to see results from 2 weeks but it may take up to 3 months as the treatment is stimulating your body to stimulate collagen production.
Avoid retinol and tretinoin products for 5 days before your treatment. We would recommend that you avoid drinking alcohol or taking ibuprofen for 24 hours before your appointment. Please let us know if you are on aspirin as this may cause bruising so please factor this in when deciding to have the treatment. Using the ZO Skincare products will also help to get your skin as ‘fit’ as possible and optimise your results.
There is little to no downtime following the treatment but there will be a little redness and some pinprick bruising. Do not apply make up in the area for 24 hours, avoid using hot tubs and hot baths for 48 hours post treatment.
