The 'Vampire facial' or PRP facial harnesses the body's own repair and recovery mechanisms to rejuvenate the skin; just like when you have a cut or burn yourself, your body heals itself. This treatment kick-starts the cells to behave like young cells again to rejuvenate the skin.
This is an autologous treatment meaning that it only uses products from your own body and is suitable for everyone.
Wanting to keep youthful looks or stimulate hair growth on the scalp can be achieved without introducing man made products into the skin. Many people are against injection ‘foreign material’ into their body making the PRP facial the perfect treatment.
Platelets, along with red and white blood cells, are a component of the blood and play an important role in healing, being the ‘first responders’ when the body is cut or wounded. They contain growth factors and proteins to speed tissue repair.
PRP (Platelet rich plasma) is obtained by spinning a small sample of blood taken from the arm in a centrifuge. This separates the components and obtains a highly concentrated portion. This is then either injected using a needle or automated gun, or a micro-needling device.
The treatment is bespoke to each person and can be injected anywhere on the face, neck, decolletage, body or scalp. Once treatment is complete, any remaining product is massaged onto the skin to be absorbed. After the treatment, the skin has some minor trauma due to the injections and will start to repair by a cascade of events to produce the active ingredients in the PRP.
