About Dermal Filler

Dermal filler is an excellent way to plump up the skin and give instant results. If you imagine your skin is like a mattress and the springs are the collagen and the padding around is the hyaluronic acid, Dermal filler is soft hyaluronic acid gel that closely resembles the natural hyaluronic acid of the body.

The Problem

The Problem

As we age, we lose volume in various areas of our face; the cheeks, temples, lips and around the mouth. We also lose elasticity in the skin and the combination leads to wrinkles and sagging skin. It’s like having a plump cushion and both pulling out the stuffing and stretching the cover.

The most important factors when deciding to have dermal fillers, are the expertise of the practitioner, your safety and the product that is being injected.

How It Works

The Problem

At Radiance, we promote a natural, age appropriate look. The soft hyaluronic acid gel in dermal fillers closely resembles the natural hyaluronic acid of the body that diminishes with age. Some dermal fillers also stimulate the production of collagen, tightening the skin. Dermal Fillers are injected (using a needle or cannula) just below the skin or deeper, depending on the area being treated, to plump up the skin giving instant results.

All fillers used are not permanent. The length of time that the results last is dependent on the type of filler used, the volume used, the area being treated and how quickly your body breaks down the filler.

Dermal filler can be used in cheeks, lips, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin, nose, temples, number 11’s or frown lines, jawline, neck, hands and décolletage. Please see FAQs for more info on the specific areas.

One type of filler that is sometimes used contains a molecule that actually stimulates the body to produce collagen. The fillers used at Radiance Aesthetic Clinic are from the Restylane, Belotero, Croma and Amalian ranges.

It is important for you to feel comfortable with the results of dermal fillers so you will have plenty of time to discuss what you are looking to achieve and see before and after pictures from treatments that Dr Ros has carried out.

After the skin has been numbed using a tiny local anaesthetic injection the filler is injected injects using a very fine needle or cannula so that the treatment is comfortable. A cannula is a ‘blunt needle’ – this may sound a strange thing to use but it is more comfortable, safer & causes much less bruising. Most clients leave with minimal to no signs of a treatment having been done but remember that there is a risk of bruising.

Forehead – reduction of horizontal wrinkles and often paired with Botox treatments. This is usually done using a course of 2 treatments 8 weeks apart. (£425 + £325).

Frown – reduction of the ‘number 11s’ and horizontal lines between the brows and often paired with Botox treatments. This is usually done with Restylane classic. Usually £395

Crow’s feet – reduction of the fine lines and often paired with Botox treatments. This is usually done using Viscoderm Hydrobooster.

Tired, sunken eye appearance – this is the ‘Tear trough’ area that affects all ages. Treatment here giving a rested, youthful look. This is done using Amalian SF 16. Only Dr Debenham does this treatment &and results usually last a year or more. this is done in 2 stages, 2 weeks apart & the cost is fixed at £550.

Chin – increase in volume in a small chin. Looking at your profile using the VISIA scan is helpful before considering this. Correcting an imbalance can often make the nose look smaller. £550

Lips – reduction of smokers lines, lipstick bleed area and increase in volume for thin lips or those that have lost volume with age. Again, here, a change in the profile can make dramatic results. NB We do not favour large unnatural looking lips. Natural lips £395 Full volume lips £425.

Cheeks – increase in volume of cheeks that have lost volume with age or addition of volume to define the cheekbones. Clients often ask for the lines from the nose to the mouth to be filled but it is normally the cheeks that need addressing. The cost is dependant on the volume of filler used and product used but is usually £425- £595

Neck – reduction of the saggy skin, ‘necklace lines’ and sometimes paired with Botox treatment. Profhilo is our favoured treatment for necks. A course of 3, one month apart is required then one every 4-6 months £300 per treatmet. Sometimes Aliaxin SR is also used. £395

Often there is little obvious evidence of a treatment having been done but sometimes there is some swelling and bruising. We use the latest ‘cannula techniques’ to minimise the downtime and increase safety. Do not touch the area without washing your hands as this may introduce infection.

Do not do vigorous exercise or get excessively hot for 48hrs as this may rarely cause bruising. if you have any concerns you must call the clinic 01392 277799.

If you are on blood thinners or aspirin please let us know at time of booking. Treatments cannot be done if you are trying to conceive, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Let us know what medication you are on and any serious illnesses you have had. If you are ill you should wait 2 weeks before having your filler.

With all dermal filler treatments there is a risk of bruising so please make sure this fits in with your schedule. This is less when a cannula is used. Most bruising, if it occurs, can be covered with our camouflage kits. Always wash your hands to avoid introducing infection. Most commonly combined with Botox, Profhilo, Salmon sperm extract and collagen stimulating treatments.

Potentially, but HALO Sciton Laser therapy is advised. Your aesthetician will provide you will the best course of treatments during your consultation.

Post treatment there may be bruising so laser is not recommended until it has gone. Most other treatments should be postponed for a week but your aesthetician will advise this in your consultation.

This depends on the area treated, the type of filler used and how quickly your body breaks the filler down.

The results are immediate, but the full results are seen at about 2 weeks when the filler has integrated into the face.

Bruising and swelling are possible but will subside within a few days.
