When we look at our own skin it can be tricky to understand what the specific problems are – we just know that we want to improve our complexion. As we age, we can start to develop pigmentation, enlarged pores, and an uneven skin texture alongside many other skin concerns. We also invest in various treatments and products without really knowing the underlying cause of the problem or whether they are going to work.
Visia Skin Analysis takes away the guesswork and shows us where the problem areas on and under the skin are. This piece of equipment can also detect issues in the deep layers of the skin that are not visible to the human eye so it’s super helpful for us when it comes to choosing a treatment plan for you. This scan is the perfect place to start if you’re looking to invest in your skin but are not sure which areas need treating and attending to the most. We understand that it can be a bit overwhelming, so this is a great place to start.
How does a Visia Skin Scan work?
The Visia Complexion Analysis system is a state-of-the-art piece of technology. It uses different types of lighting including UV and takes images of the face from three different angles. This then allows us to see below the above and below the surface of the skin and detect any underlying damage. This could include the following:
Spots – Freckles, acne, and acne scars can all be considered as spots. The Visia machine is able to differentiate spots and highlight them in different colours. Spots can vary in size but are generally circular and can give the appearance of an uneven skin tone.
Pores – These are tiny openings on the skin surface and can often get blocked. They can appear darker than the surrounding skin due to the shadows created when light naturally falls on the face.
Ultraviolet damage – UV spots are not visible to the naked eye. The presence of these spots is usually a good indicator of sun damage and general UV light exposure. The machine is able to detect these spots and indicate any areas that may require treatment.
Pigmentation – Often seen as brown spots, freckles, moles, or melasma on the surface of the skin. These areas of hyperpigmentation can occur from excess melanin and can sometimes be reduced with treatment.
Lines and Wrinkles – These are associated with a lack of elasticity and collagen in the skin, or from sun exposure and can contribute to signs of ageing. Many clients like to use the Visia Skin Scan to see where the deeper wrinkles are before going ahead with rejuvenation treatment.
Redness – There are many causes for redness on the face including conditions such as acne and rosacea. These red areas are caused by blood vessels circulating in the papillary dermis (a deeper layer of the skin). Certain skin care products such as retinol and treatments like laser therapy can sometimes help.
