UVA rays however, are the more sinister ones that breakdown collagen, causing fine or deep lines, age spots, enlarged pores and poor texture to the skin. Different chemical peels can be mixed to address these issues.

Treatment

The skin is first cleansed and a preparatory solution is applied to remove all traces of oil before the chemical peel is painted onto the skin. Some peels are removed after a certain length of time, and others are left on the skin. A course of treatments is usually required and maintenance is advised.

Aftercare

It's important to follow the post care procedures to ensure you receive the best results. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the skin, as this can irritate the treated area, moisturise regularly, always wear a SPF 50+ to protect your skin from UV damage, avoid picking if your skin starts to peel and stay hydrated!

The solution causes controlled injury to the skin, stimulating cell turnover and collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture and appearance.

Chemical peels can effectively treat a variety of skin concerns, including acne, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and rough texture.

During a chemical peel treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed, and the chemical solution is applied to the treatment area. You may experience a slight tingling sensation as the solution is applied, which typically subsides after a few minutes. The peel is then removed after 2-10 minutes depending upon the skin concern.

There is typically little to no downtime but you may have some redness immediately post treatment and slight peeling in the days following.

We will advise the amount required at your consultation as the number of treatments needed depends on factors such as the type of peel, the severity of the skin concern, and individual skin response. Some patients may see noticeable improvement after a single treatment, while others may require a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart for optimal results.

Chemical peels can be performed on all skin types; however, the type and strength of the peel may need to be adjusted based on skin sensitivity and pigmentation levels. We will choose the appropriate chemical peel for your skin at your consultation.
