Enlarged pores occur when the openings of hair follicles on the skin’s surface become clogged, stretched, or dilated. Several factors contribute to the development of enlarged pores, including excess oil production, accumulation of dead skin cells, and genetic predisposition. When oil and dead skin cells accumulate within the hair follicles, they can mix with dirt, bacteria, and other impurities, forming plugs or blockages that obstruct the pores. As a result, the pore walls become stretched and distended, leading to the appearance of larger pores.
