Introducing Emsella: The best way to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles

Weakening of the pelvic floor muscles is extremely common at all ages and in both men and women. This can often come hand in hand with side effects that can lower your confidence and make you feel embarrassed  – when you most certainly shouldn’t be.

Having weak pelvic floor muscles can often lead to urinary problems and discomfort in your pelvic area. Urinary incontinence can affect daily activities and quality of life – so don’t put up with it! There are lots of causes and reasons why these muscles weaken. Age is a common factor, so is pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. No matter what the cause, this is a problem that nobody should suffer with in silence. We understand that it can be a bit of an embarrassing subject to discuss but we are here to help you find your confidence again and that is why we invested in the new Emsella seat.

How to strengthen your pelvic floor

Pelvic floor problems can occur when the muscles are stretched, weakened or too tight and as mentioned above, this can happen for multiple reasons. Pregnancy and childbirth are some of the most common causes due to the immense pressure your body is put under. If you’re planning on getting pregnant, are pregnant or have recently had a baby, it’s super important to get your muscles working to prevent long-term bladder, bowel and uterus issues.

Doing pelvic floor exercises can certainly help and women around the world have been doing these for many years.  These simple exercises help to strengthen your muscles which in turn reduce your chance of incontinence and can increase sensitivity during sex. However, you can only contract your muscles to about 30-40% of their maximum potential and only for a split second at a time. To notice any real difference, you would need to do them religiously, correctly and more than 3 times per day for a very long time. So as much as it’s good practice to carry out these exercises and do your pelvic floor muscle training, there’s only one real solution!

Introducing our newest treatment Emsella

We’re so excited to finally be able to offer this treatment to our clients at our clinic in Exeter. Emsella is a totally non-invasive treatment to stimulate and restore your pelvic floor muscles that deteriorate after childbirth and with age. This machine can also improve the quality of your intimate life.

It really is simple, all you have to do is take a seat on the chair (with your clothes on) and we set the machine to whichever setting is right for you and your body. Contractions are achieved by using high intensity focused electromagnetic energy that is emitted from the Emsella chair and then all you need to do is relax and let it work its magic. Each treatment takes 30 minutes – so you could even pop along during your lunch break!

It’s completely safe to use made by the makers of the MRI scanner. Years of research have gone into making this incredible machine and we’re so happy to have it at Radiance Aesthetic Clinic. If you’d like to find out more or come in and try it for yourself, book a consultation now.

Who is Emsella suitable for?

This treatment is suitable for men and women over the age of 18. If you’re suffering from any type of incontinence, the Emsella chair could be your new best friend! If you already find yourself doing pelvic floor exercises at home but you just aren’t getting your desired results, then consider giving us a call or pop in for a chat about this incredible treatment.

At the start of your course of treatments, you’ll need to come in twice a week for three weeks. After you’ve completed these sessions, your pelvic floor muscles will be much stronger and you can just pop in for a top if and when you feel you need it.
