PRP for hair loss and after hair transplantation using your own blood

Hair loss can really impact your confidence and happiness.

The most common cause for loss for men is genetic.

There can also be a genetic cause in women and it is very common after childbirth. 40% of women show some hair loss by the age of 50 and only about 45% of women maintain a full head of hair by the age of 80.

Both sexes can suffer excess hair loss due to intense stress, diet, medication, scalp conditions, low iron levels, an under active thyroid and other illnesses.

Platelets, along with red and white blood cells, are a component of the blood and play an important role in healing, being the ‘first responders’ when the body is cut or wounded. They contain growth factors and proteins to speed tissue repair. PRP (Platelet rich plasma) is obtained by spinning blood in a centrifuge to separate the components to obtain the highly concentrated portion that is then injected into the scalp.
The transplant area and surrounding ‘potential hair loss areas’ are treated:

Treatments start 4-6 weeks post transplant according to your surgeon’s protocol.
1 treatment a month x 4.
2 syringes (20mls blood are used each time).
Review at 6 months with further (single) treatments every 3-6 months. Cost £350 per session as a course of 4 treatments.
