About Thermage FLX

Thermage FLX is a non-invasive procedure that’s clinically proven to help tighten and contour the skin for an overall younger looking appearance. It is the 'Rolls Royce' of skin tightening, used by many of the stars due to its results and lack of downtime. It is used on the eye area, face and all areas of the body. A single treatment takes around one hour and keeps working for several months. The skin continues to improve for up to 6 months and is one of the best kept secrets of the stars!

The Problem

The Problem

As we age, we lose volume in the face, especially the cheek area resulting in a reduction in the elasticity of the skin. The results are sagging skin and wrinkles which give an aged appearance especially in the lower face, jowl and neck areas. The high intensity radio frequency heats up the tissue beneath the skin, thus causing some ‘controlled trauma’. This is a signal to the body to ‘repair itself’ by producing collagen and thus bringing about skin tightening.

How It Works

The Problem

The skin is marked out into various squares to ensure complete coverage of the treatment area. A grounding pad is applied to the back to complete the circuit of energy. The Thermage FLX is carried out using a handpiece with a smooth, flat tip that delivers a unique radio frequency (RF) technology, safely heating up the deep, collagen rich layers of your skin.

The heat helps tighten existing Collagen and stimulates the formation of new collagen. This reduces sagging, renews contours, and improves the smoothness and texture of the skin’s surface.

Please make sure you drink 1-1 1/2 litres of water a day for the week leading up to your treatment. This enables us to increase the intensity. Having a single Profhilo treatment 1-2 weeks before your Thermage can also be beneficial.

Using clinical grade skin care and collagen supplementation can improve results.

Thermage FLX can be used as a preventative measure as well as treatment to specific areas including:

  • Face – jowls, nasolabial lines, marionette lines, smokers lines and for general skin tightening.
  • Eyes – under eye wrinkles and skin laxity as well as heavy, hooded eyelids.
  • Lips – smokers lines and area of ‘lipstick bleeding’.
  • Tummy – skin laxity post baby or due to excess sun exposure.
  • Arms – skin laxity especially the inner upper arm area.
  • Thighs and knee areas – skin laxity due to age and sun exposure.
  • Buttocks – Skin laxity due to ageing and loss of volume.

A Thermage FLX procedure is a single treatment with immediately visible results for most clients. Measurable tightening and contouring gradually appear in the two to six months in the course of your body’s natural collagen rebuilding process.

Results can last years depending on your skin condition and ageing process. Most clients, however, have yearly treatments with lesser collagen stimulating treatments every month, such as Hydrafacial, Indiba, IPL laser and Peels.

We advise the use of Retinol and antioxidant-containing products from the ZO range as well as Skinade collagen drink. They will be discussed at your consultation as they significantly enhance the results.

Stop your Retinol or Tretinoin products 3 days before your treatment. Drink lots of water before, aiming for 3L daily on the week leading up to the treatment. Skinade or Nutrakos will give your skin the collagen building blocks it needs and can be started a month before or at the time of treatment and continued for at least 3 months.

After an eye treatment, wear sunglasses to protect the eyes until the local anesthetic drops have worn off. Cleanse your skin as normal using your ZO cleanser and other products in the evening. Resume your exfoliating polish the following morning with all your other products. Always use SPF with excellent UVA, UVB, HEV and IR-A protection. We recommend our ZO range.

This is the Rolls Royce of radio frequency treatments to give skin tightening and lifting by collagen stimulation.

Everyone except those with metal implants from the middle of the back upwards, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or anyone who has a pacemaker.

No. Collagen is continually being broken down and lost with age.

The results often start within 1 couple of months with improvements continuing for 3-6 months.

You only need one! However, further treatments may be requested.

You may experience short term mild redness due to the increase in temperature of the skin.
