Your ultimate guide to Profhilo injections

There’s a reason why Profhilo is so popular. Quite a few in fact. This tweakment takes around 15 minutes and there’s no downtime. It’s so fast that people often call it a ‘lunchtime treatment’ – popping in for their Profhilo fix and returning to the office. In this article, we’ll explain what Profhilo is, how it works and why you might pick it over other injectables.

Profhilo injectable aesthetic treatment - before and after - anti ageing and anti wrinkle

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment, made from hyaluronic acid, that helps to reduce the signs of ageing skin. Did you know that your skin can start to wrinkle and sag as early as 30 years old? Due to a reduction in elasticity, you’ll start to notice that the skin on your face and neck begins to lose its plumpness.

At Radiance, our aestheticians are highly skilled in administering Profhilo injections. Each injection contains 2mls of Profhilo, which is injected into 5 specific points per side of the face or neck. Initially, we recommend 3 treatments, a month apart each time. You can then maintain your Profhilo by coming back to the clinic for 1 treatment every 4-6 months.

Profhilo is injected just below the surface of the skin where it disperses to trigger hydration. Straight away, you’ll notice improvements in tone, hydration and firmness. You may also notice that your wrinkles are reduced. Each time you return, your skin will get a hydration boost, which ultimately acts to remodel the skin for that smooth, youthful, plump look and feel.

But what exactly is hyaluronic acid?

We all know that hydration is key to high quality skincare.  Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin to promote this hydration. It also encourages collagen production, which prevents sagging. As we get older, hyaluronic acid production slows down, which causes the skin to form wrinkles and become less plump. You can often visibly see this lack of hydration on the face and neck.

Injections of hyaluronic acid combat these signs of ageing. At Radiance, our clients love Profhilo because it contains one of the highest levels of hyaluronic acid for an aesthetic treatment, giving them ultimate hydration.

What’s the difference between Dermal filler and Profhilo?

If you’re a fan of Dermal fillers, or thinking about going down that route, it’s helpful to think about the difference between filler and Profhilo before committing. At the clinic, we carry out a Visia Skin Analysis before proceeding with most skincare treatments. It gives us a comprehensive understanding of your skin’s health and indicates which treatments will work best for you.

When we think about Dermal filler versus Profhilo, we consider your skin goals and the results of your Visia scan.

As we know, Profhilo is made from hyaluronic acid, whereas Dermal fillers contain other components. Because of this difference, we use them to tackle different aesthetic needs. We use Dermal fillers to enhance specific areas, such as the lips or cheekbones. Dermal fillers do not spread to other regions, they stay rooted where we inject them. As such, we can make alterations to specific areas, for example, to give you a fuller lip shape or to create cheekbone definition.

This differs to Profhilo. These hyper-hydration injections blend into the skin and disperse, increasing hydration levels evenly. Because of this distribution pattern, Profhilo is better when there’s an overall concern such as facial and neck wrinkling, sagging or dullness. We’d never inject filler to rectify this as we design our treatment plans to give you a natural look.
